The most important part is to have a web page that loads under 10 seconds. Most people will abandon a web page if it takes too long to load. All these fancy sites that use flash are very ineffective to convert visitors into sales. Your primary goal should be to improve your conversion so that you get the maximum return on investment.

Finally, use a colour scheme that is easy on the eye. I see so many websites that are difficult to read and this will definitely hurt sales.
