Building Business - The Old Fashion Way
In todays global economy everyone is searching for a niche to make more money. We have become so specific about how we do business that we have forgotten how to make money the old fashion way.
As a speaker and business coach I found myself stuck doing the same types of workshops and keynotes all the time. I had real estate one on one bleeding out of my veins. Everyone wanted to know how to buy property with no money down. This seemed great at first but it did not allow me display my other areas of expertise.
I began to feel like I was stuck in a box. That is when I remembered what had gotten me in this position in the first place. I used good old fashion hard work to build my reputation as a real estate guru oppose to a successful business coach and professional speaker with a vast background.
The point that I am trying to make is never discount doing the things that has caused you to become successful. You must continue to build your list or your database for offline businesses.
You must remember that everyone is a customer or a potential customer. Sit down and write a list of everyone you know and ask yourself why you are not doing business with them. You may find that you have overlooked that long awaited customer you have been waiting for.
When you started your business you told everyone you came in contact with about your new baby. Your first customer was most likely someone you knew or a referral from a friend. If you want more business you most go back to being your biggest fan.
I decided I had to go back to the basics and started dialing for dollars. It only took me a day to book new business in my other areas of expertise. The funny thing is that everyone still considered me the real estate guru. I smiled at the fact that my past branding worked well and used it to my advantage to book more business.
I am not telling you to throw the baby out with the bath water. I am simply saying do not get stuck in a rut that you forget that the old fashion way of building business still works today.
