Is My Website Web 2.0?
Trust me if you are not asking this question you are surely running out of business! Consider this case: you are a real estate agent and have a static website with all profiling wonderfully done; your competitor introduces not only his profile but additional facilities for users. Who do you think would the users choose? Surely your competitor! Next question: who do you think would search engines choose? The answer again is your competitor!
Consider this example: why do you think websites like amazon, eBay etc. are selling so much? It is because they have a lot to offer to heir users. In layman\'s terms, websites are now a global 24 X 7 office with more and more real like experience for the users. This is what is web 2.0 and precisely what every webmaster needs to concentrate on.
The second question may prompt up as what can be some of the components one may include giving it a web 2.0 touch!
For this one may look at the following:
1. Using XML & RSS feeds
\r 2. Introducing platforms for user interaction (like discussion forums)
\r 3. Allowing users to express views (conducting surveys/polls etc)
\r 4. Introducing Ajax based platforms for the website design.
These are just some of the components which can play a major role in your web 2.0 initiative. The key here is that once your website is a web 2.0, search engines and your website users are going to love it. Therefore it is a good initiative to boost your search engine optimization exercises. On the other hand those not following the sequence have much to loose in the long run in terms of both popularity on the internet as well as business from the website.
