You Need These 5 Steps To Create A Website Before Registering A Domain Name

You may have an idea of what kind of site you want but before you run out and buy a domain name for your site, you need to start with a website development plan. If you design, build and create a website before registering a name, it will be easier to find your perfect site name.

1. Plan the site

What type of a website will you have? With so many different website types you really do not have to choose just one. You can be creative and mix different types together.

2. Finding you Niche

Think of what you like doing or have a lot of knowledge in. A hobby that you have? Maybe your child is special needs and you want to help and teach other people about this special needs. If you are thinking of opening a "mall" type website, where there is everything under the sun available. You may want to rethink that as people will go to Amazon, Ebay or Wal-Mart for shopping such as that. It is better to have a targeted theme site. Then research for keywords for your new venture.

3. Choosing your Website Software

Here is where many beginners get stuck. Which software should I choose? No holds barred, hands down it is... the one that matches YOUR own needs. The cost of web design software is from free to over many hundreds of dollars. Take a look at your budget and shoot for that price range. If you can not afford any, many of the available free software packages could fit your needs and as time goes by you could upgrade to another software package. Look around in the forums, look at reviews, talk with different people. You will find what you are looking for if you take your time and not just buy the first package that you come across.

4. Design Web Pages

Take a look at your competition, your favorite sites and see what you like or dislike about them. Do not try to copy another sites color scheme. Make your site unique. Again I say, be creative. Make sure when you are creating your pages you keep each page the same color theme and layout. There are web design software out there that you can change each page. If visitors come to your site and have a hard time navigating around, click of a mouse they are gone.

5. Choose Web Host

From free to 50+ dollars a month you have a lot of hosting plans to choose from. Many people will type in web hosting into a search engine and only look at the top 5 or 10. Sometimes if you look a little deeper in the search pages you can find hosting that is just as good as the top spots and maybe have more options for your money. A beginner will usually only need a basic package plan. Whomever you will be using as your host company will be more then happy to upgrade you when the time comes.

Now it is time to decide on a name for your new website creation. Many times a free domain name is included when you purchase your hosting plan. Rome was not built in a day, so take your time, let your creative side show and most of all, have fun while you create a website.
